ST. PAUL, MINN. — On a night for the political history books, Florida claimed a footnote of its own as Republican women filled the state's floor seats Wednesday to greet Sarah Palin, their party's first female vice presidential nominee.
"Not a token woman - a real woman," said Sharon Day, a delegate from Fort Lauderdale.

By acclamation, the delegation decided that its male members would give up their seats - and prime TV positions - so that female delegates, alternates, staffers and guests could join the Alaska governor in the milestone for their gender and party.
