RPOF Presents Obama With His Very Own Hollywood Celebrity Star of Fame
Tallahassee — Following a week of star-studded fundraisers with Hollywood heavyweights like Barbara Streisand, the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) rolled out the red carpet for Barack Obama today and presented him with his very own celebrity Star of Fame.
“In spite of the fact that his proposals are completely out of touch with voters in this state, Floridians want to ensure that Barack Obama does not begin to miss the red carpet treatment during his fundraising stops in the Sunshine State this weekend,” said Greer. “Whether it’s his opposition to offshore drilling, support for higher taxes, or proposals to hold unconditional negotiations with hostile leaders like Raul Castro, Obama has failed to demonstrate the judgment that Floridians are looking for in the next Commander in Chief.
“Until Senator Obama can make his way back to Hollywood where he fits in with his celebrity friends, we hope this celebrity star of fame reminds him of the very real and critical challenges facing hard-working Floridians every day.”
McCain Opens 6 Point Lead In New CBS4 Poll
A new CBS4/SurveyUSA poll shows Republican presidential nominee John McCain leads Democratic rival Barack Obama by 6 points in the battleground state of Florida.
51 percent of those surveyed statewide said they would vote for McCain, compared to Obama's 45 percent. The lead is outside the margin of error for the poll, which was +/- 3.8 percent.
The news looks even more ominous for Senator Obama when the state is broken down by region. Senator Obama is carrying southeast Florida, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. But, the race is a tie in central Florida, and in all of the other regions of the state, McCain is carrying a comfortable lead.
SurveyUsa reported that in northwest Florida, McCain had led by 14 points in a similar poll conducted six weeks ago. Today, McCain has built that lead to 41 points. The numbers for McCain get even better in northeast Florida, where McCain's lead has exploded from 8 points to 46 points.

Tim Mahoney's Horse Barn
While Tim Mahoney has applied for a Florida tax break on his Florida ‘home,’ for the past two years, he actually registers to vote at another address: a horse barn.
See the Palm Beach Post article here and a portion of the Roll Call article below.
MAHONEY SUED FOR RENT (FL-16) Roll Call, September 18, 2008:
“According to court documents obtained by Roll Call, millionaire Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.) wound up before a Washington, D.C., judge last year for bouncing a rent check on his Capitol Hill apartment, while Florida property records show that the freshman lawmaker’s South Florida district residence is a horse barn.
Court documents allege that Mahoney, an investment banker whose financial disclosure forms show he is worth at least $3.5 million, did not pay $1,500 in July 2007 for rent on his Capitol Hill apartment at 610 Third St. SE. Friedman Real Estate, which filed the complaint on July 12, 2007, also sought $400 in late charges and a $50‘bounced check fee.' Court papers also show that the District government and postal service repeatedly tried to deliver court papers to the lawmaker’s residence near Garfield Park. Court notices addressed to Mahoney’s apartment were stamped ‘return to sender ... vacant’ by the U.S. Postal Service.”
NOTE: This image is not really Tim Mahoney's horse barn. We don't know what it looks like. We wonder if he does either.

RNC Launches New Spanish-Language Radio Ad In Florida: “Commitment v. Rhetoric”
The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced that its new Spanish-language radio advertisement, titled “Commitment v. Rhetoric,” will begin running in Miami, Florida on Friday, September 19, 2008. As Obama travels into Florida this weekend, the radio ad highlights his lack of leadership in defending the interests of the Latino community, while John McCain has consistently taken on the difficult issues facing America.
Obama: AIG Avoidance
ABOVE THEIR PAY GRADE:
Barack Obama's Economic Indecision
"Barack Obama's refusal to take a stand on the biggest economic issue of the day shows he's not ready to make the tough calls needed to bring real reform and change to Wall Street and Washington. With the financial security of millions of hardworking Americans at stake, we can't afford a president who just votes 'present.' The next president will need to put country before politics and make tough decisions to secure our economic and national security. John McCain's life is filled with examples of putting country first and doing what's right, regardless of self-interest or political gain. As Barack Obama has shown again this week, he has no such record." -- Brian Rogers, McCain-Palin 2008 spokesman
INDECISION #1: Barack Obama "Would Not Say If He Supported Or Opposed" The AIG Bailout...
Yesterday, The Most Important Issue Of The Day Was The AIG Bailout And Barack Obama "Would Not Say If He Supported Or Opposed The Government-Backed Rescue Of Insurance Giant AIG." Fox News' Brit Hume: "The Democrat is not coming down one way or another on the AIG rescue. Correspondent Major Garrett explains why." Fox News' Major Garrett: "On the biggest financial issue of the day, Barack Obama would not say if he supported or opposed the government-backed rescue of insurance giant AIG." Barack Obama: "We don't know all the details of the arrangement with AIG and the Federal Reserve must ensure that plans protect the families that count on insurance." Garrett: "Obama also wants taxpayers protected but executives and shareholders exposed but on the central question to intervene or not, Obama sidestepped. Advisers said lack of details forced caution. The larger political truth; adv isors believe anxiety alone is enough to lift Obama in the polls. That is why on the trail, Obama doesn't talk about specifics of the moment but the nation's overall direction." (Fox News' "Special Report," 9/17/08)

McCain dice que la inmigración será una de sus prioridades
McCain dice que la inmigración será una de sus prioridades
By Beth Reinhard and Mary Ellen Klas

Vets for McCain!
From the Miami Herald
McCain has ties to the military that stretch across North Florida. Whenever he returns to Jacksonville, he thanks the people for their ''kindness and goodness'' to his wife and their children while he was imprisoned.
He returned to Florida after being hospitalized upon release from his 5 ½-year ordeal as a Vietnam prisoner of war. First, he was sent to Pensacola Naval Air Station, where he endured months of grueling physical therapy to allow him to fly again.
In 1976, he was given command of the Navy's largest air squadron at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, training pilots and crews for the A-7 light attack jet. That's where Stumpf met him.
Stumpf has helped put together the Escambia-based website vets4johnmccain.us, and posted a daily blog of veterans' interactions with McCain during the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn. The statewide organization is helping veterans register to vote, recruiting volunteers, assisting with absentee ballots and distributing bumper stickers or brochures.

McCain Rides Poll Surge Into Tampa Rally
From the St. Petersburg Times
Since his convention and his choice of Palin, polls have shown McCain moving ahead of Sen. Barack Obama in Florida.
He also has closed the gap or gained ground in other battleground states and, in the most crucial measure, the race for Electoral College votes, according to several polling data analysts.

Papers Call for Rangel to Resign As Kosmas, Mahoney Hang On To His Cash
Will Suzanne Kosmas and Tim Mahoney finally call for Rangel's resignation and return their tainted cash?
Washington – Today, a number of national newspapers, including the New York Times, called on Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) to step down as Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee in light of his three ethics investigations for questionable practices. Other newspapers took him to task for his latest revelation as well. Among the things being investigated are his ownership of four rent-stabilized apartments and his failure to disclose rental income from a beachfront villa he owns in the Dominican Republic. Now all that’s left is Suzanne Kosmas, who is running in Florida's 24th congressional district, and Tim Mahoney (CD-16) to echo their calls for Rangel to resign and for her to return the money that Rangel has bankrolled for them. Kosmas has received $14,000 from Charlie Rangel’s fundraising accounts and Mahoney has received $21,000.
